Barna Waste facility in Athlone due to reopen this Wednesday

The Barna Waste facility in Athlone is set to reopen to the public from tomorrow, Wednesday, January 14, a spokesperson for the company has said.

The facility at University Road has been temporarily closed for more than two months following a direction by the Health and Safety Authority (HSA).

At a council meeting last month, Athlone councillor Frankie Keena the closure of the Barna Waste facilility was causing significant distress for people trying to dispose of waste responsibly, including builders and tradespeople with rubble and tiles and no local commercial outlet available to them.

Barna Waste told the Westmeath Independent that when the facility resumes operating this week the opening hours will be as follows: Monday to Friday, 10am to 12:45pm and 2pm to 3:45pm, and Saturday 8:30am to 12:45pm.
