New grant to upgrade windows and doors
Irish homeowners will welcome news of a new grant, which sees up to €5,600 being made available to retrofit windows and doors.
The grant, which is being facilitated by SEAI, forms part of the Government's plan to encourage nationwide installation of heat pumps in homes.
It comes as part of a policy change by the Government, under the Better Energy Homes Scheme.
The installation of new windows will make homes more suitable for heat pump installation.
Along with this, the installation of newer energy-efficient windows and doors will keep heat loss at a minimum, further aiding the heat pump's operation.
Before this proposed grant, funding was only made available to homeowners who had a higher expense of thousands for retrofits.
Although not officially announced yet, Minister for Energy Darragh O’Brien is expected to announce it at a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, January 27.
Along with the windows and doors grant, SEAI offers other grants to homeowners.
These include attic insulation, heat pump system, solar electricity installation, solar heating installation and wall insulation.
