Walk in Pink Athlone event on Mother’s Day
Athlone will host a Walk in Pink event as part of a national campaign for breast cancer research this Mother’s Day.
The National Breast Cancer Research Institute (NBCRI) is calling on people across Ireland to take part in a meaningful walk to help bring researchers one step closer to a cure.
Walk in Pink Athlone is supported by Radisson Blu Hotel and Collins McNicholas. The walk will take place along the scenic banks of the River Shannon.
Participants are asked to gather from 10am at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Athlone, before the walk, commencing at 10.30am, on the Golden Mile along the river and returning to the hotel.
To take part just register online at www.WalkInPink.ie for €25, and you’ll receive a free Walk in Pink woollen hat with all monies raised going to NBCRI.
This Mother’s Day, get walking, wear pink, and help make a real difference for breast cancer research in Ireland.
On Mother’s Day, Sunday, March 15, participants are encouraged to take a stroll, walk the dog, or gather with family and friends to show their support for the many Irish women affected by breast cancer.
Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among women in Ireland, with one in seven Irish women diagnosed during their lifetime and more than 3,587 new cases each year.
Funds raised through Walk in Pink will directly support the breast cancer research team at the Lambe Institute, based at University of Galway.
