Scheriff goal haul places her top of the scoring charts

Athlone Town women's strike Dana Scheriff is the early pace setter in the SSE Airtricity Women's Premier Division top goalscorer chart.

The US born player boosted her chances of claiming the end of season top scorer award with a four goal contribution to her team's 5-2 win over Bohemians in Dalymount Park on Saturday afternoon.

The returning Scheriff scored from the penalty spot in the game's opening half before scoring three in the second period to maintain Athlone Town's unbeaten start to the Premier Division campaign.

It has been a positive goalscoring start for Scheriff upon her second spell with the reigning Premier Division and FAI Cup champions.

She scored the only goal in the club's 1-0 President's Cup pre-season win over Shelbourne and followed that up with a solitary strike away to Sligo Rovers as Athlone Town started their league campaign with a draw.

Scheriff will be hoping to sustain her current goalscoring form when Athlone Town host Cork City on Saturday in their opening All-Island Group C fixture, kick-off 6pm.
