Community spirit in action at Good Friday clean-up

Community spirit was to the fore on Good Friday as householders, families and businesses contributed to the Athlone Tidy Towns litter pick and clean-up.

Clean-ups took place throughout Athlone, in Marine View, Wansboro Park, Willow Park, Valleycourt, Garrycastle, Retreat Heights, Connaught Gardens and many more residential areas throughout the town.

Athlone Tidy Towns committee member Willie Brady said the annual Good Friday clean-up showed that the local community had pride in the presentation of the town.

"Let’s keep up the good work, and continue to look after our local areas and support one another in keeping them clean and welcoming," Mr Brady said.

He also thanked Barna Waste for collecting the litter bags from the ten designated collection points.

Volunteers are welcome to become involved with Athlone Tidy Towns.
