Public surveys launched on new five-year Westmeath Arts Plan
The county council has launched a public consultation as part of the preparation of a new Westmeath Arts Plan for 2026 to 2030.
The local authority said the plan would set out the priorities for the Arts in the Lake County, and would "guide arts activity and supports over the next five years".
The public consultation features two surveys - one for the general public and another for those who are involved in the Arts sector.
The Westmeath Arts Office said the first survey was open to anyone living or working in Westmeath, regardless of previous engagement with arts or cultural services or activities, and that it's hoping to hear from as many people as possible.
"Your views will help plan future arts activities, funding and opportunities, and shape how the arts develop in the county," it said.
The second survey, for the Arts sector, is seeking to gather the views of artists, creative practitioners, arts workers, or a volunteers with community arts groups.
"If you would prefer to speak to the Arts Office directly, there is also an open invitation to take part in 30-minute one-to-one research interviews towards the Arts Plan," it added.
"This will be an opportunity for participants to share their perspectives in a comfortable, face-to-face setting."
The surveys are available online - through westmeathculture.ie - and can be completed until Wednesday, May 6.
You can also email arts@westmeathcoco.ie or phone 044 9332016 to request a copy, or to schedule a one-to-one interview with a member of the Arts Office.
Public consultation workshops are also due to take place across Westmeath this summer.
