Roscommon name team for U20 provincial semi-final

Roscommon manager Cian Smith has named his team to play Galway in the Connacht Under 20 football championship semi-final on Wednesday evening at 6.30pm.

The game takes place in Hastings Insurance MacHale Park Castlebar with a place in the provincial final against undefeated Mayo at stake.

Roscommon defeated Sligo and Leitrim in the round robin phase of the competition to ensure a semi-final place was secured and will be hoping to avenge their five point loss to Galway earlier in their provincial campaign.

The winners of tomorrow evening's semi-final will also have home advantage for the Connacht final on Wednesday, April 29.

In advance of tomorrow evening's fixture, the team management and players received a welcome boost last week when Hollywood actor and former Roscommon minor football goalkeeper Chris O'Dowd dropped in with words of encouragement for the group.

O'Dowd's visit was organised by Dalata Hotel Group as part of their sponsorship of the competition.
