Motorist driving at 168kph tests positive for cocaine

A driver arrested for driving at 168kph in a 100kph zone in Roscommon on Monday, also returned a positive reading for cocaine, Roscommon Gardai said.

Gardai said members of Roscommon Roads Policing Unit were performing a routine speed check , as part of the May Bank Holiday Weekend Road Safety Operation, when they detected the vehicle at a speed of 168kph in a 100kph zone.

A roadside drug gest was performed on the driver, who returned a positive reading for cocaine. The driver was arrested for these offences and a court date is to follow
