Gardaí issue traffic advice ahead of this weekend's Connacht final
An Garda Siochána Roscommon has issued traffic advice ahead of this Sunday's big Connacht Senior Football Championship final at King and Moffatt Dt Hyde Park.
Roscommon will face Galway in the provincial decider (throw-in: 4.15pm) and An Garda Siochána will be operating a traffic management plan that patrons should be aware of.
Spectators are asked to utilise public car parks in the town centre while strictly no parking will be permitted on the Athlone Road/adjoining estates and parking facilities. This restriction is in place from Ard Aoibhinn housing estate outbound in its entirety (local traffic allowable only).
No parking is permitted on the Circular Road but permissible at adjacent car parks. Limited parking will be available on the Golf Links Road but facing away from town centre. On the Racecourse Road/ Boyle Road, parking is permitted at parking locations with patrons urged to park facing outbound. On the Galway Road, parking is allowed at permitted locations only and patrons are asked to follow all steward/Garda instructions.
Cars causing obstructions or parking illegally will be ticketed/towed and all spectators are asked to be considerate and respectful of local residents.
An Garda Siochána has further advised for patrons to secure vehicles and keep valuables out of sight. Large traffic volumes are expected and delays are unavoidable, an Garda Siochána said.
Meanwhile, a date and venue for Roscommon U20's upcoming All-Ireland Championship semi-final against Kerry has been confirmed with the match taking place in FBD Semple Stadium, Thurles on Wednesday, May 13 at 7.30pm.
