Roscommon Greener Spaces competition now open

Roscommon County Council has launched its Greener Spaces Competition for 2026 – and is inviting local schools and community groups to apply to the competition online.

The competition celebrates the work of local primary schools and community groups who are making a real difference in outdoor spaces.

Roscommon County Council said: “We’re inviting primary schools and community groups (including resident associations, tidy towns groups, cemetery committees and other groups) to showcase how they are enhancing and caring for greener spaces in their school grounds and communities.”

A Greener Space supports connection with nature and a sustainable environment through litter reduction, environmental protection, enhanced biodiversity, and sustainable resource use.

Examples include school grounds, community gardens, orchards, rain gardens, residential estates, burial grounds and other green community spaces.
