Westmeath will face Dublin in the Leinster senior football final in Croke Park on Sunday, May 17.

Irish Rail to run special train from Athlone for Westmeath's Leinster final clash

Irish Rail has announced it will be running a special service to and from Athlone on Sunday week, May 17, for supporters attending Westmeath's Leinster final clash with Dublin.

The Lake County will be bidding to replicate the famous provincial title success of 2004 when Mark McHugh's charges take on the Dubs in Croke Park.

The game is fixed for a 2pm throw-in on May 17, and the special train service for the game is due to depart from Athlone at 10.20 that morning.

The additional return train to Athlone for supporters after the game is set to leave Dublin Heuston at 6.15pm. Tickets for the trains can be booked now on the Irish Rail website.

In addition, Athlone GAA Club is now planning to run a third supporters' bus to the final due to demand. The first two buses are full.

The cost of travelling on the Athlone GAA bus is €10 for children and €15 for adults (club members). For non-members it's €22 return.
