Massive interest in Leinster final

Two special trains to run on Sunday

Up to 20,000 Westmeath supporters are set to descend on Jones Road on Sunday for the Leinster senior football final between Westmeath and Dublin.

There are two special trains from Mullingar to Dublin on Sunday to accommodate supporters travelling to Croke Park for the big game at 2pm.

Already one special train was put on (ex-Longford, with a focus on Mullingar), but due to growing demand, an additional service has been added.

Minister Robert Troy has confirmed that there is a second train running (at 11.15am) and tickets for this will be going on sale in the next while. The 10.23 and 10.28 trains have been sold out.

It’s Westmeath first Leinster senior final in 10 years and there is a serious level of interest in the game, Westmeath GAA inundated with requests for tickets. There is a great buzz around the county and Lake County supporters genuinely believe a shock could be on the cards.

A number of clubs are running buses to the big match and there are is a special train service from Athlone at 10.20am on Sunday.
