Ballinasloe man appointed new president of Connacht Rugby

Two respected members of the local rugby fraternity have been elected to valued positions within Connacht Rugby.

At Connacht Rugby's Annual General Meeting, Ballinasloe Rugby Club's Tom Horkan was elected to the role of President, taking the reins from outgoing President, Gort's Robert Lahiff.

In a social media post, Ballinasloe RFC said: 'We are incredibly proud of Tom. The club extends its sincere congratulations to Tom and his family on this tremendous honour'.

Tom will become the Ballinasloe club's fifth ever President of Connacht Rugby. Meanwhile, Buccaneers RFC member Liam Rattigan was also elected as Connacht Rugby's Junior Vice-President.
