All-Ireland SFC: Westmeath and Roscommon fixtures confirmed
Westmeath will face Galway in their All-Ireland SFC round 2A clash on Sunday, June 14 at Pearse Stadium - while Roscommon will meet Monaghan at St Tiernach's Park on the previous day, June 13.
The Galway vs Westmeath showdown is listed for a 2pm throw-in on Sunday week, with the Monaghan vs Roscommon clash slated to start in Clones at 4.30pm on Saturday week.
Neither fixture will be shown live by RTE; instead, both games will be shown on the GAA's streaming service, GAA+.
The winner of the Pearse Stadium encounter will advance to the All-Ireland quarter-finals. The last time Westmeath reached that stage was in 2006 and, interestingly, the Lake County men did so thanks to a famous win over Galway in Salthill.
Westmeath were defeated by Galway (the other county who wears maroon and white) in round robin games in both 2023 and 2024.
The loser of the Galway vs Westmeath game will still have another chance to reach the last eight as they will meet one of the round 2B winners in the third round.
However, the loser of the Monaghan vs Roscommon game will be eliminated from the championship.
Connacht champions Roscommon defeated Monaghan by 3-16 to 1-16 during this year's Allianz Football League Division 1, with the Farney men being relegated at the end of the campaign.
Both Roscommon and Monaghan have played Mayo in this year's championship, with the Rossies defeating Andy Moran's side by 2-25 to 1-18 in their Connacht semi-final. Monaghan's comeback mission fell short when they meet Mayo in last Sunday's All-Ireland first round game.
It's believed the venue for Louth's clash with Ulster champions Armagh delayed the confirmation of the fixtures. Louth don't possess a venue capable of hosting the fixture and it has been confirmed for Inniskeen in Monaghan. The Louth vs Armagh and Tyrone vs Mayo games will be televised on RTE.
At the time of writing, tickets for the games had yet to go on sale, but they are expected to be on sale soon via Ticketmaster (links available on the GAA website).
