Irish Rail 'hoping to confirm' extra Athlone trains for Galway-Westmeath clash
Irish Rail has said it's hoping to add additional train services between Athlone and Galway for Westmeath's All-Ireland Senior Football Championship clash with Galway on Sunday week, June 14.
The game in Pearse Stadium is getting underway at 2pm and, at present, the 9.26am train service from Athlone to Galway, as well as the 6pm and 7.25pm services from Galway to Athlone, are fully booked.
When contacted by the Westmeath Independent, an Irish Rail spokesperson said it was hoped additional trains would be added for the game, with details to be confirmed in the coming days.
"We'd hope to confirm additional services early next week. These will be published on irishrail.ie once confirmed," a spokesperson for the company told us today (Friday).
