Graduations at Coláiste Chiaráin
Students at Coláiste Chiaráin have marked the completion of their Transition Year with a celebration of personal growth, engagement, and achievement across a year designed to bridge junior and senior cycle.
The event recognised the breadth of student development across the school's TY programme, which encompasses core subjects, career exploration, work experience placements, and community engagement.
Throughout the year, students engaged in extended projects, collaborative learning, and real-world experiences that extended far beyond the classroom. Importantly, this year was free from formal examination pressure, allowing young people to explore their interests, clarify their educational pathways, and develop as maturing individuals.
The celebration highlighted not only academic progress but also growth across personal development, civic responsibility, and career readiness—the four pillars that define the Transition Year experience. Parents, teachers, and community partners gathered to acknowledge the achievements of the entire cohort and to reflect on a pivotal year that prepares students to make informed choices as they progress to senior cycle.

On May 21, Coláiste Chiaráin held its sixth-year graduation mass and awards ceremony, celebrating the achievements of departing students.
The mass was presided over by Fr. Joseph Wenjeslaus, with Deacon Tony Larkin in attendance. The ceremony featured addresses from head students Roisín O'Brien and Isobel Brooks, alongside reflections from Year Head Mr Bobby Purtill and Principal Mr Brendan Waldron.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of awards: Ella Nally was named Student of the Year, selected from a strong cohort of nominees including Katie Glynn, Thomas Conway, Sarah Fogarty, and Diarmuid Lyons.
Jack Prendergast received the Leaving Certificate Applied Student of the Year award, while sports awards were presented to Sean Finneran and Roisín O'Brien in recognition of their outstanding contribution to school athletics.
