Roscommon minor footballers aiming for All-Ireland semi-final spot

The Roscommon minor football team return to championship action on Saturday evening when they play Derry in an All-Ireland quarter-final tie in Kingspan Breffni Park Cavan at 7pm.

Crowned Connacht champions on May 8, Roscommon are hoping to continue their unbeaten championship run and secure a place in the semi-final of this year's All-Ireland series.

Shane Moran's team started their provincial championship journey on March 20 when they defeated Sligo by the minimum, before achieving successive wins over Galway, Mayo and Leitrim with impressive showings.

A well earned Connacht title was secured when Roscommon defeated Galway for the second time on a 3-12 to 1-17 scoreline, sparking unbridled scenes of joy in Tuam Stadium.

Opponents Derry suffered defeat to Tyrone in the Ulster minor football final but have secured a quarter-final berth having reached the provincial decider.

En route to the Ulster final, the Oak Leaf County secured successive wins over Down and Cavan before defeating Donegal in the provincial semi-final.

The game will be broadcast on the Spórt TG4 YouTube channel.
