Athlone Town to host community 5km fun run
Athlone Town AFC will host its inaugural community 5km fun run/walk at the club's stadium on Sunday, July 5, at 2pm.
All funds raised through the event will be shared amongst four of the club's community partners, Infinity Friends, St Hilda's Services, The Order of Malta and the Irish Professional Footballers Benevolent Association.
The club said the event aims to 'bring together our players, coaches, volunteers, supporters, families, sponsors, and the wider Athlone community for a day that celebrates connection, inclusion, and community spirit'.
'As a football club, we believe our responsibility extends beyond the pitch. We have a unique opportunity to use the power of football to make a positive impact in our community and support organisations that change lives every day'.
The fun run/walk begins at 2pm from the stadium and the club have advised those taking part to 'come along at 1.30pm to receive your number'.
Following the run there will be a raffle, games and food and drinks available for purchase.
