Cllr Frankie Keena said it had been a "pleasure and privilege" to have acted on the stage of Athlone Little Theatre in the past and complimented the "ongoing dedication" of the group to the local community since its foundation in 1936.
Offering his support for Cllr O'Rourke's motion, Cllr John Dolan said a lot of "unnoticed work" went into the staging of performances at "such a fine venue" and said it was "only fitting" that Athlone Little Theatre were acknowledged with an award of recognition for their work in the community.
