St Hilda's Special School represented at Ireland Summer Games
Five students from St Hilda's Special School Athlone are participating at the 2026 Ireland Special Olympics Summer Games in Dublin this weekend.
The students will represent Connaught at the national finals which started with an opening ceremony in Tallaght Stadium on Thursday and will continue until Sunday (June 21).
The five St Hilda's Special School students who will compete at the Summer Games are Lexi Cassidy and Peter Joyce, in the motor activity training programme, Camila Da Silva and Bryan Soares Da Silva in athletics and Abbie McKnight in gymnastics.
The school paid tribute to the staff and pupils of Coosan National School who "raised money from their Christmas Fair and Summer Raffle to sponsor each of our five athletes to attend the games".
Ten athletes and one volunteer from Athlone Special Olympics Club are also participating at the Summer Games over the course of the weekend.
