Prolonged spell of hot weather as heatwave conditions expected

A prolonged spell of very warm or hot weather is set to affect Ireland this week and into next week, with heatwave conditions expected.

Daytime temperatures are forecast to widely exceed 25C, with temperatures rising into the high 20s and potentially low 30s in some areas from Friday.

The UV Index is expected to be high to very high during the warm spell, while warm and humid nights are also expected, with minimum temperatures of 15C or higher.

Some locations could experience tropical nights this weekend, where overnight temperatures remain unusually high. There is also a possibility of thunderstorms developing later this week.

People are advised to keep up to date with the latest forecasts and weather warnings through the Met Éireann website and app.
