American joins Athlone ahead of national basketball league re-entry
Athlone Basketball Club has announced an exciting pre-season signing ahead of the club's much-anticipated return to National League action in early August.
American 6ft 4in combo guard Rob Littlejohn joins the club after what Athlone Basketball Club describe as 'an outstanding rookie professional season with KK Varda in Bosnia’s A1 Liga, where he was named league MVP and best scorer'.
The club announced news of the Ohio native's arrival via its social media channels, saying it is delighted to welcome the Guilford College alum to the panel, as David Keogh's squad prepares for a first outing at National League level for 40 years.
Athlone Basketball Club's league return will see the midland outfit compete in a new eight-team Men’s Division Two that also includes Ballina Braves, Cavan Eagles, Dublin Raiders, Fr Mathews, Ongar Chasers, Team Northwest and Trinity BC.
The Men’s Division Two will run in a straight league format and the team who finishes top will be promoted to the Domino’s Men’s Division One.
Fixtures for the new National League season will be released later this month, with the season starting from October 2-4.
