Athlone teacher helps raise significant sum from Uganda fundraiser
A primary school teacher living in Athlone has helped raise an impressive €7,638 for the development of services at Hospice Jinja and Walukuba West Primary School, Uganda, a cause close to her heart.
Olive Robinson, who is originally from Ballinagore, secured the support of the Bea Masterson Legan Amateur Drama Group, who travelled from Longford to Athlone Little Theatre with their sell-out production 'My Therapist Needs Therapy' by Vanessa Galligan for three performances in late June.
And earlier this week, Olive was able to hand over a cheque for €7,638 to John Conroy, lead volunteer for Walukuba West Primary School and Rays of Hope Hospice, Jinja, Uganda.
Earlier this year, Olive told the Westmeath Independent: “I wanted to do something different for a worthy cause. I feel the country needs a lift in mood, and having seen a hilarious comedy drama, my heart was set on bringing it to Athlone.”
Athlone Little Theatre, through social media, congratulated Olive on her achievement and said the shows yielded a huge amount for a worthy cause.
