Westmeath U20 managers depart respective roles

Westmeath GAA has paid tribute to U20 gaelic football and hurling managers, Kenny McKinley and Jody Murray, who have departed their respective intercounty roles.

The county board thanked both managers for their "unwavering commitment, dedication and determination" over the past two years with the county football and hurling teams.

"Your leadership and time you have given the jersey has made a lasting impact on our players and the future of our county teams," the county board statement added.

Both managers were appointed to their respective roles in November 2024.

McKinley achieved U20 All-Ireland 'B' Championship success during his first year in the role when Westmeath defeated Monaghan in May 2025.

However, the team's 2026 Leinster senior championship campaign ended at the quarter-final stage when they were defeated by Kildare in April.

Meanwhile, Leinster championship defeat to Kildare in early April saw Jody Murray and his Westmeath U20 hurlers contest for honours in a Tier 2 competition this year.

While a comprehensive win over Down was achieved, further losses to Antrim and Carlow in the group phase of the competition saw Westmeath's championship season come to an end in May.

Westmeath GAA wished both managers "the very best" in "whatever comes next".

"Thank you for your service, and best of luck in the next chapter," the county board concluded.
