Rising star signs for Athlone Town women's underage team

Taughmaconnell based club Skyvalley Rovers has congratulated "rising star" Ava Hogan on her move to the Athlone Town women's Under 17 team.

Ava has played at all age grades for Skyvalley Rovers from Under 7 to Under 14 and was a prominent member of the Roscommon and District Youth and Schoolboy-Girls League academy teams at the Gaynor Cup in 2025 and 2026.

Ava recently donned the Republic of Ireland jersey during the Under 14 Associations Cup, helping the national team to tournament success over Northern Ireland.

In a hard fought final, Ava and her teammates defeated Northern Ireland on a 2-0 scoreline. Ava scored the opening goal and provided an assist for the second goal.

In a social media post, the club said the move to Athlone Town represented a "fantastic development" for this "talented and dedicated player".

"We commend Ava on her achievements to date and are very proud and excited to watch what the future holds for this rising star.

"It is great to see her moving on to our local League of Ireland club and we look forward to going in to Athlone Town Stadium and watching her play," the club said.
