Nine-year-old donates hair and raises funds

A nine-year-old pupil from St Ciaran’s National School, Baylin, recently raised more than €1000 for LauraLynn Children’s Hospice by taking part in the ‘Locks of Love’ for LauraLynn hair donation fundraiser.

As part of her fundraising effort, Amelia Doolan donated an incredible 13.5 inches of her hair which will now be given to Little Princess Trust – a charity that provides free real-hair wigs to children and young people who have lost their hair through cancer treatment.

Amelia, who is a member of the Reynolds Academy of Irish Dancing and is a former student of Attitude Stage School, is known for her kind heart, caring nature and wonderful character.

Her generous act inspires many and shows how one young person can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

The fundraiser not only raised valuable funds but also helped bring awareness to the important work carried out by LauraLynn Children’s Hospice, which provides hospice care and support services for children with life-limiting conditions, as well as residential care and family support for children and young adults with disabilities.

The donation of her locks of love hair, is a truly thoughtful and inspiring achievement by Amelia, which has made her family, school and community very proud.
