Free Citizen Science event to be held in Athlone

A free event, designed to introduce people to common wildlife found in local parks and gardens, will be held in Athlone at the end of the month.

The Citizen Science event will be held by Athlone Tidy Towns and takes place between Athlone GAA Club and Athlone Regional Sports Centre on Saturday, August 29.

Events will begin with a biodiversity presentation at Athlone GAA clubhouse at 10am, followed by a guided wildlife walk through the Athlone Regional Sports Centre's recreational park. The event, which will include light refreshments for participants, will conclude at 1pm.

The special guests for the occasion will be Dr. Mary O’Connor (Ecological Services) and Brian Gaynor (Green Pine Consultants). All are welcome to attend the free event and further information can be obtained by contacting athlonetidytowns2022@gmail.com
