Talented local soccer player chosen to represent Ireland

Talented Athlone teenager Aimee Greene has been selected to represent the Republic of Ireland women's Under-15s at a UEFA development tournament in Zagreb, Croatia.

Aimee, 14, will turn-out in three tournament matches against Croatia (August 23), Slovakia (August 25) and Ukraine (August 28).

A daughter of Denise and Michael Greene, Aimee came through the ranks at the Temple Villa club before recently joining Athlone Town at Under-17 level.

Earlier this year, Aimee was part of the SFAI Ireland U14 girls' soccer squad that had success at the 2026 Association Cup in Northern Ireland.
