Baker prominent as Galway Boston claim USGAA football championship

Westmeath senior footballer Senan Baker claimed further silverware Stateside on Sunday afternoon as he played a prominent role in Galway Boston's North American senior football championship final win.

The Caulry forward's late goal added gloss to the winner's scoreline as Galway Boston defeated Padraig Pearses Chicago by eight points (1-25 to 3-11) in the showpiece fixture played in the Irish Cultural Centre in Boston.

Baker's intercounty colleague Dan Scahill also featured for the victorious side, while St Brigid's GAA were represented by Brian Nugent during Galway Boston's successful championship campaign.

Meanwhile, Roscommon senior football quartet Eoin Colleran, Conor Ryan, John McManus and Eoin Ward all featured for the Padraig Pearses Chicago team in what was a high scoring final encounter.
