Upcoming RTÉ programme to explore UFO sightings in Roscommon

RTÉ has unveiled details of its schedule for the coming season - with UFOs in Roscommon set to be one of the topics explored by the national broadcaster.

An outline of the RTÉ schedule for the months ahead includes a new programme, The Lights Above the Lake, which describes Boyle in Roscommon as "one of Ireland’s most intriguing UFO hotspots".

The programme will see astronomer Dr Eamonn Ansbro "delve into reports from locals in Boyle" of mysterious lights in the sky.

Dr Ansbro is a noted investigator of such sightings. An outline of The Lights Above the Lake states that, on the programme, he "develops his own theory about how UFOs operate and sets out to prove it by staging a unique event on the shores of Boyle’s lake, inviting the public to witness his attempt to predict when and where UFOs will appear".

In addition to Dr Ansbro's investigation, RTÉ said the programme will see "local residents share remarkable first-hand accounts of unexplained encounters that have become part of the town's identity".

The date when the programme will air has not yet been announced.
