Celebration of karst to take place in Taughmaconnell
'Rocks to Roots: Celebrating Karst' will take place in Taughmaconnell Community Centre, on Saturday, September 5, from 10am.
Hosted by the Karst Farming Network, this special event is designed to bring together farmers, conservationists, local communities and visitors to the South Roscommon region.
The morning Karst Farm Walk offers a unique opportunity to experience the Roscommon Karst landscape first-hand and see how Regenerating the Rocks EIP farmers and ecologists are working together to enhance biodiversity while supporting sustainable farming.
The walk will explore species-rich grasslands, habitat restoration and innovative grazing practices, including the use of goats for scrub management.
Following the farm walk, at Taughmaconnell Community Centre there will be a free 'Rocks to Roots – Celebrating Karst' afternoon event, which brings together farmers, conservationists, local communities and visitors to celebrate the unique heritage, biodiversity and culture of the karst landscape. There will also be a panel discussion, talks, music, art and refreshments.
