Moate woman among key speakers at AI evening in Tuar Ard

A Moate woman is to be among the special guests as Tuar Ard welcomes three leading Irish voices in AI for 'a lively and accessible evening' this Thursday (September 10).

Moate native Louise McCormack - a researcher and leader in the field of trustworthy and responsible AI – will be speaking on the matter of 'From Folklore to Feeds: How AI Is Changing the Stories That Shape Ireland'.

According to Tuar Ard, Louise's work looks at how people can make sure AI systems develop in ways that are 'ethical, accountable and worthy of trust'.

Also speaking at the event, which begins at 7pm, will be Jonny O’Dwyer, an AI researcher and lecturer at Technological University of the Shannon. His research includes AI ethics, affective computing and machine learning.

Mícheál O’Neill, founder of 'AI With Kelso' and CEO of Kelso Digital, will also focus on AI and the future of work in Irish towns and villages like Moate.

Tuar Ard said that no technical knowledge is needed to attend the event, and that it promises to investigate what AI will 'actually mean for Ireland, for our work, our culture and places like Moate'.

Tickets for the event are priced at €7|€5 concession, and all proceeds from the evening will go to Moate Tidy Towns.
