St Brigid's pay tribute to supportive gesture from rival club

St Brigid's GAA has paid tribute to fellow South Roscommon club Padraig Pearses for the care provided to player Sean Trundle following his injury received while playing in Woodmount on Sunday.

The St Brigid's full back had to leave the field of play with a serious injury after just two minutes of his club's Roscommon senior football championship quarter-final contest against Roscommon Gaels, in a game which was played at the home of Padraig Pearses.

In recognition of the attention provided to Trundle in the immediate aftermath of his injury related substitution, St Brigid's thanked Padraig Pearses, particularly club chairperson, Teresa Fitzgibbon, for the "fantastic level of care and support" shown to the player.

"They are a credit to the club and GAA, as they showed him compassion and help in a difficult moment," a St Brigid's social media post stated.

Despite the loss of Trundle, St Brigid's advanced to the senior football championship semi-final with a nine point win.

The reigning county champions will play Strokestown in the championship semi-final in King & Moffatt Dr Hyde Park, on Sunday, October 4, at 3.30pm.
