Roscommon seeks applications for vacant senior hurling manager role

Roscommon GAA has today (Tuesday) issued a statement welcoming applications for the position of senior team hurling manager – following the decision in recent days of Brian Hanley to step down from the role.

In a statement on its website, Roscommon GAA said that applications are welcomed from 'suitably qualified and experienced candidates' interested in taking responsibility for the management, preparation and development of the Roscommon senior hurling team.

The successful candidate, the statement said, will work closely with the Roscommon GAA County Board and Hurling Committee, with a focus on preparing the team for inter-county competition and contributing to the continued development of hurling within the county.

Applications for the role must be submitted in writing by email to Secretary.hurling.roscommon@gaa.ie and the closing date for applications is Wednesday, October 14 at 7pm.

Brian Hanley, from Athenry, was at the helm as Roscommon struggled in this year's Christy Ring Cup, finishing bottom of the table after losing four of their five games, with their only point coming from a draw against Donegal. However, the Rossies fared better in Division 3 of the National Hurling League, winning four of their six games.
