More water supply disruption expected in Athlone town

Uisce Éireann has said homes and businesses "in Athlone town and surrounding areas of county Westmeath" are likely to face water supply disruption during the early part of this week.

This follows on from water restrictions experienced over the weekend, involving reduced supply pressure and outages across various areas of the town.

A notification from the utility said further water conservation restrictions would be taking effect as of tonight (Monday, October 12) and would continue until Wednesday morning.

"Works are scheduled to take place from 10pm on October 12 until 8am on October 14," Uisce Eireann stated.

"We recommend that you allow 3-4 hours after the estimated restoration time for your supply to fully return."
