Woodie's DIY in Athlone helps raise €6,000 for children's charities
Staff and customers of Woodie's DIY in Athlone are celebrating a fundraising success after generating almost €6,000 for four Irish children's charities through this year's Woodie's Heroes campaign
At the retail chain's Athlone store, on the Dublin Road, an impressive total of €5,945 was raised this year. In total, over €13,000 was generated for the charities from the two Woodie's branches in Westmeath, with €7,352 being raised at the Mullingar store.
The funds raised locally will contribute to the national Woodie's Heroes total and support Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland, ISPCC Childline, Down Syndrome Ireland and Cancer Fund for Children.
Woodie’s Heroes was established in 2015 and this year's campaign raised €642,662 nationwide, bringing the total raised for Irish children’s charities since the campaign began to more than €5.3 million.
Woodie’s CEO, Damien Dwyer, thanked staff, customers and suppliers for their continued support of Woodie's Heroes and the four Irish children’s charities.
"As we mark the 12th year of Woodie’s Heroes, I'm incredibly proud of the continued commitment our colleagues show to supporting children and families across Ireland," said Mr Dwyer.
"Year after year, our teams, customers and suppliers come together to make a meaningful difference and reaching more than €5.3 million raised since 2015 is a fantastic reflection of that collective effort.
“The generosity and enthusiasm behind Woodie’s Heroes is something we can all be proud of, and I’d like to thank everyone who has helped make this year’s campaign another success.
"Together, we’re helping four incredible Irish children’s charities continue their vital work and making a positive difference in communities across Ireland," he added.
