Top award for local restaurant
THYME restaurant in Athlone has scooped the accolade of Best Restaurant, at the Leinster finals of the Irish Restaurant Awards.
 Some of Westmeath's finest restaurants won awards at the finals last night. These include The Fatted Calf, Beans and Leaves, Bastion Kitchen, Kin Khao Thai, Glasson Hotel and Golf Club and Thyme Restaurant.
 There were further honours for Thyme Restaurant when chef John Coffey won the Best Chef award.
 The awards covered a wide range of venues and the winners from each of Leinster’s 11 counties were selected from a range of categories.
 Some 165 awards were presented at the event which took place in the the Knightsbrook Hotel, Trim, last night.
