Supporters look on anxiously during the 2011 Connacht club final between St Brigid's and Corofin in Kiltoom, which is also the venue for this Sunday's Roscommon senior football decider.

Kiltoom to host Roscommon senior football final

St Brigid's will have home advantage in this Sunday's Roscommon SFC final after Kiltoom was confirmed as the venue for the clash against Padraig Pearses. Pearses will go into the game as rank outsiders and now they have the added challenge of facing the reigning county and Connacht champions in their own backyard. The impressive facilities in Kiltoom, have hosted many high profile games over recent years - including the 2011 Connacht club final in which St Brigid's defeated Corofin, and some of Roscommon's National Football League fixtures. Just 24 hours before the football decider, the Padraig Pearses hurlers will face Four Roads in the SHC final replay (Athleague, 4pm). Pearses were involved in yet another draw in this championship season last Sunday, as their hurlers and pre-match favourites Four Roads finished level on a 1-13 to 0-16 scoreline. Pearses and Athleague played out a draw in the HC semi-finals and they finished level again in the replay, before the Moore/Taughmaconnell prevailed after extra-time. And the Pearses footballers were also involved in a draw against Castlerea St Kevin's in the quarter-finals. They won the replay and went on to defeat Roscommon Gaels in the semi-finals. The Roscommon SFC final will commence at 4pm on Sunday, and it will be preceded by the Minor FC Division 1 final between Strokestown and Boyle (2pm). *See this week's Westmeath Independent for a report on last Sunday's Roscommon SHC final and a preview of Sunday's Roscommon SFC decider.
