Gardai probe four local break-ins

GARDAÍ are investigating break-ins to four homes yesterday; two each in Ballykeeran and Tubber.
Two homes located close to each other in Ballykeeran were targeted between 2pm and 6.30pm. Entry was gained to both via a rear window. Both homes were ransacked. A small sum of cash was taken from one, while no items were taken from the other house.
Gardaí believe the two break-ins are linked and are appealing for witnesses. They have received reports that a silver or white Volkswagen Golf was acting suspiciously in the area yesterday afternoon.
Anyone who may have seen this car or any suspicious activity in the Ballykeeran area yesterday is asked to contact Athlone Garda Station on 09064 98550.
Meanwhile, two homes – also located close to each other – were broken into in Kilfoylan, Tubber, yesterday afternoon.
One home was targeted between 3pm and 4pm, while the other was broken into between 4pm and 6pm.
Entry was gained to the first house via a side door and coins and jewellery were taken. Jewellery was taken from the second house, after a back door was forced open.
