Athlone stopover for 650km charity walker

A Cork woman made a stopover in Athlone as part of her 650km charity walk in aid of Ireland's first children's hospice. Karin Milisavljevic, who has lived in West Cork for a number of years, arrived in Athlone for an overnight stay on September 29. While competing her charity walk from Mizen Head in Cork to Malin Head in Donegal. She is receiving support from all the local Lions Clubs while en route. Karin left Cork on September 19 and is walking 25km to 32km per day. She plans to reach the very top of Donegal on October 10. She came to Athlone from Cloghan and after an overnight stay here to rest her weary feet, she moved on to Roscommon Town the following day. The Children's Sunshine Home is being built in Foxrock, Dublin and will help children with life-limiting and life-threatening diseases such as cerebral palsy, brain damage, cancer and meningitis.
