Celebrations for Dancezone with TV3 competition win

Celebration and jubilation was the order of the day as Dancezone Stage School celebrated winning the TV3 Glee competition on Wednesday last. Members, friends and supporters had gathered in the Grand Hotel to await the result of the online poll which would decide which of the four finalists would go forward to the O2 in December and take part in the Childline concert. Typically the competition results were held over to the end of the show and the results were delivered in reverse order. The groups finishing third and fourth both polled 19,000 votes. The second place group polled 40,000 votes and Dancezone were clear winners with a massive total of 53,000 votes. Hugs, kisses, tears and smiles were the order of the day after that was announced, text messages flooded the system as all the friends and relations received the good news. The noise in the hotel meant that we did not get to hear the comments of the panel but later in the day videos and online resources were used to recap. Louis Walsh and the team were very careful with their comments, they were anxious not to cause any upset to the losing groups and they obviously did not seem as excited as all of us in Moate. It is easy to say so now but we always believed that Dancezone had the best video of the four finalists but with an online poll the result is always in doubt. The original Dancezone submission, Joyful Joyful came in for some favourable comment from the judges and maybe the Gospel theme will be a factor at the time of year the Childline concert will take place. The gathering slowly left the hotel and made their way to the cars for the traditional drive up and down the town with horns blaring. Many were hurrying back to work and other responsibilities but the distinctive pink hoodies were in evidence for quite a while afterwards as the members savoured the moment and tried to extend the wonderful feeling of success for as long as they could. Congratulations to Sandra Julian and all the team, we look forward to the O2 in December and now the search for tickets will begin in earnest.
