Deep sadness at passing of Athlone man Seamus Meade

The death has occurred of Seamus Meade, Killinure, Glasson and late of Assumption Road, Athlone.

Seamus passed away on Monday, October 22 at the age of 62.

Seamus was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2013 and underwent a course of stem cell treatment in Moscow in 2016. A number of high profile charity events were organised locally to help meet the cost of his treatment overseas.

A native of Assumption Road, Seamus was the fifth youngest in a family of nine boys and five girls.

Predeceased by his parents Maureen and John, brother Anthony and sister Josephine, he is sadly missed by his loving wife Regina, brothers John, Liam, Michael, Patrick, Francis, Edward and Paul, sisters Cora, Maureen, Rosemary and Ann, nieces, nephews, in-laws, relatives and many friends.

His wife Regina, operated Shannon Crafts and Coffee Dock in The Strand, Athlone, and Seamus was working there when he first noticed that something was amiss, health-wise, early in 2013.

Reposing at his home (88 Assumption Road) on Wednesday and Thursday from 3pm until 7pm. Cremation will take place on Friday in Shannon Crematorium at 5.30pm. House private on Friday morning please. Family flowers only please, donations, if desired, in lieu to South Westmeath Hospice
