Firm family favourites all across the country, the Lambert Puppet Theatre have been entertaining both children and adults alike for over four decades now with their wonderful and magical tales of all the best-loved fairytales. They return to Roscommon Arts Centre on Saturday, February 4, to perform 'Hansel and Gretel' in an afternoon show, beginning at 2.30pm. Suitable for all children aged up to 10 - and accompanying adults! Tickets are priced at €10 each and can be purchased online at www.roscommonartscentre.ie or by calling Roscommon Arts Centre's box office on 090 6625824.
Meanwhile, Sligo-based ensemble, Blue Raincoat Theatre Company continue with their acclaimed catalogue of travels through the realms of the absurd with their production of 'Rhinoceros' by Eugene Ionesco in Roscommon Arst Centre on Wednesday, February 15, at 8pm.
A searing and bleakly funny study on the human nature, 'Rhinoceros' is amongst the most striking and enduring commentaries on social frailty and group hysteria from the 20th century. It concerns the citizens of a small town who - bar one tardy and disaffected drop-out - turn into a herd of rampaging rhinoceroses. Can Beranger cling to the scraps of his humanity when the town Logician, the Grocer, the Humanist, the ubiquitous Old Lady and even his closest friend Jean, begin sprouting horns and turning a distasteful shade of grey.
Tickets are €16/€14 with an Early Bird Offer of €10. Booking through Roscommon Arts centre's box office at 090 6625824 or www.roscommonartscentre.ie
