Kilbeggan Races ready to kickstart exciting 2013 schedule
On Friday, May 3 (5.15pm), Kilbeggan Races kicks-off the Bank Holiday weekend with its first race meeting of the year.
The other seven meetings of the year are scheduled for Friday, May 17, Saturday, June 2, Monday, June 24, Friday, July 19, Saturday, August 10, Friday, August 23, and Friday, September 6.
Kilbeggan Race Committee has invested around €300,000 on building an additional 54 new stables, a new concourse area for parking horse lorries and improvement to the race track.
Paddy Dunican, Manager, said “We are delighted with the new additional stables. Leamore Construction did a superb job on building the new block. We now have a total of 110 stables with a stable for each horse running on the day. 2012 was a great year at Kilbeggan with great racing and a significant increase in the number of people attending over the year. We are looking forward to our new season with eight race meetings planned from now until September”.
The quality of racing at Kilbeggan in 2012 was of a very high standard. Winners included high quality horses from Willie Mullins’ stable like Blazing Tempo, Zuzka, Tastiocht, Gordon Elliot’s Cause of Causes (winner of the Ladbroke Hurdle at Ascot in December), and Special Tiara, who defeated Overturn Baily’s Green at Aintree in April.
