Passionfruit Theatre fundraiser proves a huge success

The Shamrock Lodge Hotel played host to a very special event last Saturday night with well over 200 people turning out for the Passionfruit Theatre fundraising concert in the main function room. Around ten of Athlone"s top musical acts performed on the occasion - including the Fabulous Bonker Boys and Hickory Wind - with all money raised on the night going towards the popular Athlone theatre. 'It was definitely a huge success and the amount of support and good will which the theatre received was just phenomenal,' said Passionfruit Director Michelle Flynn. 'Local businesses offered us great raffle prizes and we received fantastic donations from the public all night - it couldn"t really have gone any better,' she added. Michelle added that the theatre was particularly grateful to Athlone musician Padraig Conroy who organised the event from the very beginning. 'He was really the lynchpin for everything, it was all down to Padraig"s hard work that it happened,' she said. The Passionfruit Theatre also wished to thank The Shamrock Lodge for hosting the event, all the musicians who performed, the Ducke family, Bernard Coyle, Glasson Village Restaurant, The Olive Grove Restaurant, Auburn School of Motoring, sound engineer Helge Wehder and all those who made the trip to the Shamrock lodge to support the occasion.
