St Oliver Plunkett Boys earn Volvo Ocean Race trip

The fifth class boys in St Oliver Plunkett Boys National School have won a competition organised by the Athlone Springs Hotel to celebrate the arrival of the Volvo Ocean Race in Galway. To win the competition, the boys had to build a replica of the Green Dragon, the Irish-Chinese entry in the race. The prize includes an all expenses paid trip to the Race Village in Galway on Thursday where the boys will have VIP quayside access to the Green Dragon and a meeting with the Irish team. The boys are very excited about the trip and are busy following the race in class and learning all about life on board these ships. They hope that the crew of the Green Dragon will sign the sails on their winning boat so that they will have special reminder of the day for years to come.
