Director of Pure Mule visits Moate Community School

The members of the Guidance Department in MCS were delighted to have Emmy award winning director Declan Recks visit the school recently and share with the staff and students his experience, knowledge and acclaimed success in the world of film and TV production, direction and writing. Declan hails from Clara, which has featured a lot in his film making. The Clinic and Pure Mule feature in his filmography and Pure Mule was set in Offaly with some scenes taking place in the Auld Shebeen in Moate! Declan spoke to a group of interested students including the Performing Arts class in MBC. He discusses his career to date showing clips of some of his work. He studied at Dun Laoghaire College of Art and Design and went on to pursue producing and directing. His main message to students was that if they were determined enough and were willing to work hard they could make it in this industry. Oisín Robbins, a past pupil of MCS who is now studying Arts and Theatre Studies in Galway pushed for a visitor representing this career area last year. Without Oisin's indefatigable insistence Moate Community School may not have had Declan Recks at all! Declan hails from Clara, which has featured a lot in his film making.
