Gardai appeal to motorists to slowdown this Bank Holiday

A car has been detected travelling at 86 km/h in a 50 km/h zone on the R390 at Grange, Mullingar today as part of Garda National ‘Slow Down’ Day today.


In the first 5 hours and 30 minutes of Operation Slowdown (07.00 to 12.30), in excess of 22,000 vehicles have been checked for speeding with 485 detections.
One car was caught  at 127 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on the N25 at Ballyadam, Carrigtwohill, Cork.

The highest speed detected so far was 128 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on the N7.
An Garda Síochána are appealing to motorists to drive safely and stay within the speed limits at all times and especially over this bank holiday weekend.
