Parking restrictions in kiltoom for ros u21 clash

ROSCOMMON will be looking to reach the Connacht Under-21 football final when they take on Sligo in Kiltoom this evening (Wednesday).

Up to 2,000 people are expected at the South Roscommon venue for the provincial semi-final, with the throw-in set for 7.30pm.

Roscommon Gardai have said there will be no parking along the main N61 road for this fixture. The traffic restrictions will apply from 5pm to 8pm on Wednesday evening about 1.5km in either direction of the turn-off for St Brigid’s GAA club.

Parking for the game will be available in the environs of St Brigid’s GAA Club and in the allocated car-park situated at the rear of the GAA grounds.

Now managed by Mark Dowd, with St Brigid’s stalwart Frankie Dolan as part of the management set-up, Roscommon will be fully expected to brush aside the Sligo challenge.

The Rossies have a talented crop of players at this level, including rising Clann na nGael player Ultan Harney, and won the Hastings Cup in impressive fashion earlier in the season.

Roscommon have reached two All-Ireland finals at U21 level in the past three years, when under the guidance of Nigel Dineen. In both those finals, Roscommon were defeated by Dublin.

They will expect to book a berth in the provincial decider against either Galway or Mayo, who meet in the other semi-final at Elvery’s MacHale Park, Castlebar on Saturday (5pm).
