RTE's Teresa Mannion to compere Samaritans concert

Broadcaster Teresa Mannion has been announced as compere for the 26th annual Samaritans Christmas concert.

The popular festive event will take place on Wednesday next, December 6, in the Franciscan Friary, Athlone, at 8pm.

It will feature the Army Band of the 2nd Brigade conducted by Capt Thomas Kelly, St Brigid's Community Choir, Athlone Pipe Band and guest artist Simon Casey.

Teresa Mannion, who once lived in Athlone, is senior journalist with RTE Galway.

After studying Media Communications in Dublin, she started her career with RTE in the Dublin newsroom. She then spent some time with RTE in the Midlands before being appointed to her current role

Two years ago, during Storm Desmond, she became an international household name when her impassioned “avoid unnecessary journeys” news report went viral, and then, last year, she won another place in our hearts as she participated so energetically in Dancing with the Stars.

Teresa is married to Dave O’Connell, who is Editor of the Connaught Tribune, and they have two sons, Cian and Tom.

Tickets for the fundraising concert - priced €12 - available at the Franciscan Friary, Cunninghams' Pharmacies Midland Sound Equipment and Castle Gift Shop.
